When Your Time in Stockholm Turns into Romantic Wandering

In July, I met this amazing couple, Eliana & Tanner, who came to experience Stockholm all the way from Arkansas.
Their wish was clear from the beginning: they wanted to wander the city to see as many corners as possible and as coffee lovers they also wanted to enjoy some time in one of the cute cafés that Stockholm has to offer.
I took them to see beautiful architecture of Östermalm, harbours and water views until we wandered to Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen just before sun was setting over the city.

While everyone rushes to see the narrow streets of Gamla Stan, this unique neighbourhood in the heart of the city hides the most beautiful architecture! Östermalm area doesn't get enough credit in typical Stockholm guides yet it masterfully combines two seemingly incompatible characters - the urban "busy city" vibe and the historical one thanks to the character of the buildings in the area. I have taken quite a few of my couples and families here during their Stockholm explorations and I'm glad to say that just as Eliana & Tanner here, they all completely immersed themselves in exploring this part of Stockholm.

When you're coming to Stockholm for your vacation and you tell me you want to experience that typical Stockholm vibe, it would be a crime not to take you to one of its beautiful harbours or a walk alongside the water!
Just as the evening sun is coming lower on the horizon and turns everything into that romantic yellow gold, that's when you should opt for a walk like this to experience the nostalgic feeling that Stockholm has to offer.

some more wandering & time for coffee
We wandered all the way to Gamla Stan and I took them around some of my favourite spots. There's a common misconception that Gamla Stan is constantly busy and impossible to have a photoshoot there. As an experienced city photographer I can promise you that if coming in a right time, some of the famous landmarks and streets you'll be able to enjoy all on your own, without a single soul!

Those moments when the sun meets the horizon and turns everything into burning orange...for that short precious while - when you know the right spots to be in the city in those moments, you experience magic. A different kind of world almost.
For the last section of this vacation session we had nothing planned so we followed the sunset and ended up documenting real nostalgic moments!
